Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Part-time Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join our team to manage a number of Closed Landfill sites throughout the area along with site visits to other system locations.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for electrical systems and maintenance to contribute to the smooth operation of our plant and facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the upkeep and repair of plant and equipment, ensuring safety standards are maintained, and supporting ongoing maintenance projects. Flexibility in working hours and a proactive approach are highly valued in this position.
There is also an opportunity to participate in other major projects involving new plant & process systems.
Although this starts as a part time role - 16 hrs ( 2 days) per week - for the right candidate there is potential to quickly increase working hours up to full time with incremental salary increases commensurate with experience.
Duties
- The role will be split between office and site with travel to numerous sites.
- Assist with routine maintenance and inspections of electrical systems, plant and equipment
- Read and interpret schematics, diagrams, and technical manuals to support troubleshooting activities
- Support the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical components using CAD drawings where applicable
- Aid in diagnosing faults within programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and other automation systems
- Conduct preventive maintenance tasks to minimise downtime and optimise system performance
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing internal client needs promptly and professionally
- Document maintenance activities accurately for record-keeping and future reference
- Develop role to manage and organise works to be carried out including procurement as required.
Requirements
- Proven experience in electrical maintenance or a related field, with a strong understanding of electrical systems
- Knowledge of schematics, technical drawings, and CAD software is desirable
- Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and automation systems is highly desirable
- Mechanical knowledge will be considered an advantage with experience of pumps and pumping equipment.
- Ability to perform basic troubleshooting and repair tasks efficiently
- Ability to carry out a project from end to end.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in documentation and task management
- Excellent customer service skills, demonstrating professionalism when interacting with colleagues and clients
- Ability to work part-time hours flexibly, including some weekends or evenings if required
- Knowledge of Telemetry / remote monitoring systems would be desirable.
- ATEX / COMPEX awareness would be desirable.

Starting salary - £19.50/hr for 16 hrs a week (£40,560 - PRO RATA) - hrs & hourly rate to increase as duties & role develop.
