Part-Time Field Support / Peer Support Assistant

Job Description

NeuroTree is hiring a part-time, as-needed Patient Technology Support Assistant to provide in-person support for patients who need help using basic technology, navigating an iPad or communication device, and completing forms.

This may include going to a patient’s residence or approved location with an iPad or approved device to help them access forms, ask questions, connect with the NeuroTree team, or communicate when they need extra support.

Many of the patients we support may be neurodivergent, have intellectual or developmental disabilities (IDD), be nonspeaking, use an iPad or communication device to express their needs, or prefer to communicate in another language. Interpreter support will be scheduled when needed.

This is a support role. It is not a clinical role. The person in this position does not diagnose, treat, or provide medical advice. The main responsibility is to help patients access and use technology so they can communicate, complete forms, and participate in their care.

Schedule / As-Needed Role

This is a part-time, as-needed field-based position. Hours may vary week to week based on patient needs, residence availability, and scheduled visits.

Visits will be coordinated in advance whenever possible. This is not an emergency on-call position. Staff are not expected to remain available unless a visit has been scheduled and confirmed.

Approved visit time, coordination time, and required follow-up/documentation time will be paid hourly.

  • Help patients ask questions, access forms, or connect with the NeuroTree team
  • Support patients with basic technology issues in a calm and respectful way
  • Work respectfully with scheduled interpreters, families, caregivers, or residence staff when patients need language or communication support
  • Communicate professionally with patients, families, caregivers, residence staff, and NeuroTree leadership
  • Confirm visits or appointments by phone, text, or email when needed
  • Send clear updates to NeuroTree after each visit
  • Report any barriers, concerns, or follow-up needs
  • Escalate urgent concerns, safety issues, or serious service barriers immediately
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times
  • Represent NeuroTree with patience, kindness, and professionalism

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience supporting neurodivergent individuals, individuals with IDD, individuals with disabilities, patients, clients, or people who need communication or technology support
  • Comfortable helping patients with basic technology
  • Comfortable using an iPad, smartphone, email, forms, and online tools
  • Patient, respectful, and calm when working with individuals who need extra support
  • Comfortable supporting patients who are nonspeaking, communicate differently, use a communication device, or require interpreter support
  • Experience in caregiving, peer support, disability services, behavioral health, social services, patient support, community support, direct support, or related work is preferred
  • Reliable, punctual, and organized
  • Strong communication and follow-up skills
  • Able to work independently after receiving instructions
  • Must maintain confidentiality
  • Reliable transportation required
  • Valid driver’s license preferred

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is someone who genuinely enjoys helping people and has real experience supporting neurodivergent individuals, individuals with IDD, individuals with disabilities, or patients who may need extra time, patience, communication support, or technology assistance.

We are looking for someone who can show up on time, remain calm and respectful, help the patient use an iPad or communication device, support basic communication or form completion, and send NeuroTree a clear update after the visit.

This role is best for someone who is kind, reliable, respectful, and comfortable helping patients in their home or approved community setting.

Work Environment

This is a part-time, as-needed, field-based role. Some communication, scheduling, and follow-up may be completed remotely, but the main purpose of the role is to assist patients in person when needed.
