Job Type: Part Time, Fully Remote
Estimated hours per week: 10-15
Estimated salary/hourly pay: $18-22 (commensurate with technical competency)
Brief Company Description
- Level-Up Life specializes in supporting students in their journey to academic independence in all walks of life through one-on-one academic coaching and mentoring. We approach academics holistically. Whether the struggle with school is ADHD, anxiety, depression, executive functioning, or any other hurdles, we acknowledge its impact. We help our students develop a lifestyle where they are able to succeed academically as a natural byproduct of developing healthy skills, routines, and habits.
You'll do well in this position if you...
- Are a "numbers-driven narrator"—someone who finds equal satisfaction in a perfectly reconciled balance sheet and a complex data model that reveals a new growth opportunity. We are looking for:
- Demonstrate Meticulous Precision: You have a zero-tolerance policy for data entry errors and a deep respect for the integrity of the general ledger.
- Have Strategic Foresight: You don't just report what happened; you project what is likely to happen and provide actionable recommendations for how we should respond.
- Display Proactive Curiosity: You are a self-starter who looks across departments to find the "why" behind the numbers, whether that's in marketing spend or tutor efficiency.
- Have a Solution-Oriented Mindset: You thrive on building systems and automations that make complex data accessible and decision-friendly.
- Desire Mission Alignment: You understand that our financial health is the engine that allows us to change students' lives, and you treat our resources with that level of care.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, either in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, or Business Analytics. An MBA or professional certification (CFA/CPA) is a plus.
Work/Professional Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in a role that combined core bookkeeping (AP/AR, month-end close) with financial planning and analysis (FP&A) or operations management.
Technical Expertise
- Advanced, "zero-learning curve" mastery of Google Sheets (QUERY, ARRAYFORMULA, Pivot Tables, Apps Script) and professional bookkeeping software (QuickBooks). You should be comfortable building complex financial models from scratch.
Other Experience
- Experience in a service-based startup or the educational services sector is highly desirable. Prior experience integrating marketing and HR data into financial reporting is a significant advantage.
Responsibilities
- Financial Stewardship & Bookkeeping: Execute full-cycle bookkeeping, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month-end close. Ensure all financial statements are accurate, GAAP-compliant, and provided to leadership on a strict schedule.
- Strategic Financial Analysis: Develop and maintain sophisticated 3-statement financial models, cash flow forecasts, and break-even analyses. Perform variance analysis to help the company stay on track with its annual budget.
- Cross-Departmental Data Integration: Act as the "intelligence hub" for the company by incorporating marketing metrics (CAC, LTV, CTR) and HR data (capacity utilization, tutor efficiency) into a centralized reporting dashboard.
- Operational Decision Support: Analyze tutor labor costs and student outcomes to identify high-performing segments. Provide data-driven recommendations on pricing strategies, hiring needs, and marketing budget reallocation.
- Process Automation & Systems Management: Design and implement Google Sheets automations and "smart" spreadsheets that reduce manual data entry and provide real-time visibility into company KPIs for all department leads.
We look forward to hearing from you!
