Job Summary
Outpatient Mental Health clinic in Midwood, Brooklyn, is seeking Part-time, 17 hours a week, Front-Desk receptionist. Mondays – morning 8:45am-3pm, Friday, Saturday – evening shift and flexibility to cover other Front-desk shifts. Front desk responsibilities include phone, insurance verification, computer entry, scanning, e-faxing and filing. Knowledge of EHR/EMR system and Microsoft outlook is a plus. Must be able to multitask with good interpersonal skills. Experience a plus. Spanish speaking is a plus. Compensation dependent on level of experience.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a welcoming environment at all times
- Answer multi-line phone systems promptly with professional phone etiquette, directing calls as needed
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and assist with billing inquiries using systems such as Availity
- Schedule appointments accurately utilizing medical scheduling software and coordinate with clinical staff to optimize daily workflows
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes, including intake documentation review and updating electronic health records (EHR systems)
- Maintain organized medical records, files, and documentation review procedures in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Assist with medical administrative support tasks such as filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and managing office supplies
Experience
- Prior clinic or medical office experience is highly preferred, especially in front desk or medical receptionist roles
- Familiarity with EMR systems is a plus
- Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, and medical billing practices is a plus
- Experience with insurance verification processes including Medicare and other insurance plans is desirable
- Demonstrated customer service skills in a healthcare setting with bilingual abilities considered an asset
- Proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and health information management software
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Pay: $24.00 - $26.00 per hour
