QUALIFICATIONS: Valid South Carolina teaching certification.
GT Endorsement: Current and valid South Carolina Gifted and Talented Endorsement
REPORTS TO: Principal
JOB GOAL: To lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation.
- Small-Group Instruction: Design and deliver engaging, rigorous, and differentiated small-group instruction to identified gifted and talented students in grades 3-6, adhering to the South Carolina Gifted and Talented regulations.
- Curriculum Development and Implementation: Plan and implement a specialized curriculum that integrates multiple disciplines (e.g., science, math, literature, critical thinking) and emphasizes higher-level thinking skills.
- Campus Rotation: Effectively manage a rotating schedule to provide consistent service across various school campuses within the district.
- Project-Based Learning (PBL): Utilize project-based learning as a primary instructional method to foster inquiry, problem-solving, and in-depth exploration of complex topics.
- Assessment and Identification: Use appropriate formal and informal assessments to monitor student progress and contribute to the ongoing identification process for gifted students.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with general education teachers, administrators, and parents to advocate for and support the academic and affective needs of gifted learners.
- Professional Development: Stay current with research and best practices in gifted education and participate in relevant professional learning opportunities.
- Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the district
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
- Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy.
- Attends and participates in faculty meetings when requested.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: One hundred and ninety (190) days or more per year. Salary and work to be established by the Board
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel
