About Haustile
Haustile makes fashion-forward porcelain tile that foregrounds pattern, color, and craft. Born from a love of tile and a desire to move beyond the ordinary, we design and produce bold, considered surfaces for floors and walls. We’re a small, focused team that prizes precise color, production quality, and thoughtful design.
Position summary
This is a hands-on, design-first role. We’re looking for a part-time Graphic Designer to own surface design, color matching, and production file prep for custom and collection work. The designer will work closely with our sales team, campaign team, and owners to create custom hospitality and commercial tile, produce interior mockups for client presentations, create social and marketing assets, and ensure files meet factory print standards. This is a graphic/surface design role — not a creative director or broad marketing position.
Key responsibilities
- Design, recolor, and edit tile and surface patterns; create correct repeats and scale for floor and wall applications.
- Collaborate with the sales team to develop custom tile designs for hospitality and commercial clients and deliver rapid, accurate revisions.
- Create assets for social media and marketing; work with our campaign team to produce brand-forward, eye-catching visuals for digital and print campaigns.
- Manage color workflows and proofing using the X-Rite i1 Publish Pro 3; prepare and approve color proofs (Pantone, CMYK, ICC profiles, delta-E awareness).
- Prepare production-ready files for porcelain tile printing: correct scale, repeat math, bleed, resolution, file formats, and file naming/version control.
- Produce realistic interior renderings and mockups to illustrate tile in context (strong Photoshop compositing preferred).
- Create branded templates and forms for sales/operations (line sheets, sample labels, order forms).
- Perform light Shopify visual updates and small layout edits.
- Maintain an organized artwork library and partner with factory staff to confirm print quality and correct files.
- Work with owners to co-design collections and ensure brand consistency across creative materials.
Must-have skills & experience
- 2+ years professional graphic or surface design experience; tile, textile, or large-format surface work preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
- Strong color management and print proofing experience (Pantone, CMYK, ICC profiles); familiarity with i1 Publish Pro 3 or equivalent is a plus.
- Proven ability to prepare production-ready artwork for manufacturing and an understanding of fabrication tolerances.
- Experience designing social and marketing assets that are brand-forward and optimized for digital platforms.
- Portfolio required: include surface/pattern work, color-matching examples, production files, and at least one interior rendering or mockup.
- Excellent attention to detail and communication; comfortable working with remote sales reps, a campaign team, and in-house production staff.
- Able to work onsite in Guthrie, KY 2–3 days per week.
Nice-to-have
- Strong Photoshop compositing/rendering skills for realistic mockups.
- Experience with Shopify and basic HTML/CSS or Liquid edits.
- Basic photo and/or video editing skills for social content.
- Experience on hospitality or commercial projects.
Working conditions & compensation
- Part-time (2–3 days/week; ~16–24 hours), flexible schedule with potential to grow to full-time.
- Creative autonomy and opportunity to co-design collections and shape brand direction.
- Competitive hourly rate: $22–30 / hr. Please include your desired hourly rate in your application.
- Small, collaborative team working onsite at our Guthrie, KY factory.
