Full Job Description

Teachers To Go is looking for an in-person high school math teacher to provide summer tutoring in Algebra II for a 17 year old boy with ADHD in Danville, CA 94506 west of Oakland. This is a great opportunity for the right teacher: a part-time tutoring position two days per week in the afternoon for two hours each session that pays $75/hour ($150/visit). This is a summer tutoring opportunity with flexible times, starting on June 15th-July 31st and continuing into the fall at the teacher’s option.

Looking for a high school math teacher to tutor a student in Algebra 2 using his BYU Online High School curriculum. The teacher will provide tutoring two days a week (any two days) for two hours/each session any time in the afternoon that works for the teacher. The student has moderate ADHD, but does well when he can focus, and he is smart even though he has trouble focusing at times. The goal is to help the student build confidence and hopefully enable him to finish Algebra 2 by the end of this year.

The right teacher will be patient, engaging, empathetic and understanding about ADHD. Looking for a teacher who can relate to the student, and who will make an effort to get the know the student and gain his trust. Looking for a teacher who has experience teaching Algebra 2, but also some prior experience with ADHD who can allow the student to take short breaks if needed but still keep him on track. Teachers To Go has been offering classroom teachers private teaching job opportunities with flexible scheduling and competitive pay since 2007.

Teacher candidates should have a minimum BA/BS, and at least 1 year of experience teaching high school math. California state teacher certification is preferred. Some prior experience working with ADHD is also preferred. Teacher applicants should have an understanding of and be comfortable with teaching Algebra II at the high school level. Applicants should be home during most of the summer from June 15th through July 31st, and available to continue tutoring during the fall less often at times that work for the teacher.

Requirements
Must have at least a BA/BS (mathematics degree preferred) and at least 1 year of high school math teaching experience. State-certification is preferred, but not required. Prior experience with ADHD is also preferred. Must be comfortable teaching Algebra 2 at the high school level using the student’s BYU Online High School curriculum. Must have your own reliable transportation & cell phone, and must be able to travel to the location of the student in Danville, CA 94506 two days a week (any two days) for two hours in the afternoon. Must be available most of the summer from 6/15 to 7/31, and able to continue in the fall less often at flexible times that work around your schedule. Must be willing to interview via live video chat, and in person in Danville, CA 94506.
