Part-Time High School Visual Arts Teacher (1-Year Position)

Salary Range: $32,000 - $100,000. The position on the scale will be based on years of teaching experience and education.

We are seeking a part-time teacher to join a dynamic group of teaching artists in the High School starting in September 2026. This position is for 1 year only. The most promising candidates will bring their own creative expertise to studio classrooms where they will engage students in exploring materials, developing technical skills, and building a sense of artistic competence and joy. We are particularly interested in teaching artists who have backgrounds in new media, graphic design, and textile art, but we are open to a variety of artistic passions. We welcome candidates who can support and challenge students to take artistic risks as they create, reflect, and develop their own practice.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach 2-3 high school visual arts classes, meeting in class and individually through the Dalton Lab system.
  • Develop course content aligned with the visual arts curriculum.
  • Collaboratively maintain shared teaching spaces and equipment.
  • Differentiate pedagogy to meet the needs of each student; collaborate as needed with student support staff and advisors.
  • Display student work in designated public areas.
  • Attend and contribute to departmental meetings; collaborate with colleagues regularly.

Qualifications:

  • BA or BFA degree in visual arts required; background in new media, graphic design, textile arts preferred.
  • High school teaching experience or other teaching experience with adolescents in an art program is required.
