Part-Time Intake Specialist (Master’s Level Clinician)

About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Intake Specialist to join our clinical team. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for individuals seeking services—playing a critical part in assessing eligibility, coordinating care, and ensuring a welcoming and supportive experience.

This position is ideal for a clinician who thrives in a fast-paced environment, values person-centered care, and is passionate about supporting individuals with mental health and/or substance use needs.

What You’ll Do

  • Conduct timely intake assessments (within 72 hours) in settings convenient for the individual (home, hospital, community, etc.)
  • Determine service eligibility in accordance with Michigan Mental Health Code and Medicaid guidelines
  • Provide crisis intervention and support as needed
  • Develop preliminary person-centered treatment plans and crisis plans
  • Educate individuals on services, recipient rights, complaint resolution, and health/safety procedures
  • Initiate case management services and coordinate smooth transitions to ongoing care
  • Participate in triage and ensure all required documentation is completed accurately and on time
  • Provide alternative recommendations and due process information when services are denied
  • Maintain compliant, thorough, and timely clinical documentation
  • Participate in on-call rotation, team meetings, supervision, and ongoing training

What We’re Looking For

Education & Licensure:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related field
  • Active Michigan licensure (MSW, LLP, or LPC)

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year post-graduate clinical experience in mental health and/or developmental disabilities

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
  • Experience with co-occurring disorders (mental health and substance use)
  • Knowledge of diagnostic criteria and level-of-care tools (e.g., LOCUS, ASAM)
  • Proficiency in motivational interviewing and engagement strategies
  • Ability to assess stage of change and tailor interventions accordingly
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfort with electronic health records and basic Microsoft Office tools
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating within a multidisciplinary team

Additional Requirements

  • Valid Michigan driver’s license with a good driving record
  • Reliable personal vehicle and proof of insurance for work-related travel
  • Willingness to travel within the community and work flexible hours
