Part-Time Lead Preschool Teacher 2026-2027 School Year

Job Overview
Discovery Trails Preschool (www.discoverytrailsacademy.com) is in search of a part-time lead teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. Hours for this position would be 8:15am-12:45pm Monday through Friday with opportunities to substitute in the afternoon. Candidate will be most qualified with at least a Level 3 EC Credential and works well in an educational environment that is a progressive, hands-on atmosphere. Director qualifications and a degree in Early Childhood, Education or Teaching credentials a plus.

Salary Begins at $16,000 a year with more for additional qualifications. Extra time paid hourly. Four weeks of paid vacation per year (Thanksgiving Break, Winter Break, Spring Break) with five days of PTO available.

Position begins August 10, 2026 and concludes May 20, 2027.

Duties

• Lead daily classroom activities with co-teachers
• Develop and implement age-appropriate theme-based curriculum plans while being in charge of the Music and Physical Education Program
• Collaborate with colleagues to design lesson plans that promote childhood development and early intervention strategies
• Manage classroom behavior through positive reinforcement and effective behavior management techniques based on Love and Logic in the Classroom
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about children's progress, milestones, and any concerns
• Help conduct assessments with student progress and tailor instruction accordingly

Experience

• Prior experience working with children in preschool is essential
• Experience in curriculum development, lesson planning, and implementing developmentally appropriate activities with an emphasis in music and physical skills
• Familiarity with child-centered educational philosophies
• Strong communication skills to effectively engage with children, parents, and team members
• Previous leadership experience as a lead teacher or in a supervisory role within an early childhood setting is highly desirable

Pay: $16,000.00 - $17,000.00 per year
