RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide excellent customer service by welcoming and registering patrons, issuing library cards, checking out materials and managing patron accounts
- Assist patrons with locating materials, using computers, or explaining procedures
- Provide technical assistance to library patrons (checking their email, logging onto the Internet, making copies, etc.)
- Check in and process library materials
- Accept and process payments
- Provide information regarding library programs, events, and resources
- Shelve library materials
- Address patron conduct or safety issues
- Know and understand the American Library Association’s Library Bill of Rights, Freedom to Read Statement and Freedom to View Statement, recognizing that freedom of access is a fundamental tenet of a public library
- Follow all legal and policy requirements related to patron privacy and custodianship of patron records
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule that may include a combination of days, evenings and weekends.
- Must possess excellent customer service skills
- Must have knowledge of Google Suite
- Education Requirements
- Associates degree with major coursework in Liberal Arts, Library Information Systems, or related field; AND at least one (1) year of full-time paraprofessional library experience or two (2) years of increasingly responsible full-time customer public service experience; OR
- Completion of a minimum of one (1) year coursework in Liberal Arts, Library Information Systems, or related field; AND at least two (2) years of full-time paraprofessional library experience or three (3) years of increasingly responsible full-time customer public service experience; OR
- Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma; and three (3) years of full-time paraprofessional library experience or three (3) years of increasingly responsible full-time customer public service experience.
