Part-Time Maintenance Worker - Parks

Description

Performs field work related to parks maintenance, recreational activities and special events.

Examples of Duties

• Assists field crews with maintenance and repairs of parks, including landscaping, equipment repairs, athletic facilities, turf management issues, and addresses safety issues.
• Operates hand tools, weed eaters, mowers, and other various equipment types used for division.
• Maintains all equipment, vehicles, tools, etc. in proper, safe, and clean working order.
• Maintains and repairs picnic tables, fences, benches, trash cans, walkways, playground equipment and other park items.
• Performs the job in a safe manner and in compliance with policies, procedures, work and safety rules and the employee handbook.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Knowledge of uses and purposes of general construction tools and equipment
• Knowledge and skill in the use of hand tools, machines and other similar equipment used for divisional purposes.
• Ability to learn a variety of construction and maintenance processes and equipment.
• Ability to perform heavy physical labor.
• Ability to understand & follow simple oral and/or written instructions.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Typical Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have high school diploma/GED
• Must have valid driver's license
• Must have driving record sufficient for coverage by City's auto liability carrier
