Part-Time Manufacturing Bookkeeper / Accounting Specialist

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced part-time bookkeeper / accounting specialist to support bookkeeping, manufacturing accounting, inventory-related financial processes, and our upcoming migration from QuickBooks Desktop to a cloud ERP system.

This is not a basic data-entry service-based business bookkeeping role. We are a factory, so the right person needs to be comfortable with inventory, purchasing, vendor bills, raw materials, finished goods, production activity, product costs, and financial reporting.

We currently use QuickBooks Desktop and are preparing to migrate to a cloud ERP system. This person will help keep our books accurate now and will be part of the internal team supporting the ERP migration, including data cleanup, process documentation, testing, and validation.

This role will be on-site at first because the work is closely tied to our factory operations, inventory, purchasing, and accounting processes. After the cloud ERP system is implemented and the person is fully trained, we may consider a split schedule with some remote work.

Responsibilities

- Maintain accurate bookkeeping records in QuickBooks Desktop

- Process accounts payable, vendor bills, and purchasing-related transactions

- Support accounts receivable and customer billing as needed

- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations

- Assist with inventory-related accounting and COGS review

- Help track purchasing, raw materials, finished goods, and product costs

- Support BOM, assembly cost, and margin analysis where needed

- Assist with monthly financial reporting and management reports

- Help clean up data and processes ahead of ERP migration

- Participate in ERP migration testing, validation, and implementation support

- Create or improve accounting and inventory-related procedures

- Work with ownership, operations, purchasing, and production staff to improve financial accuracy

Ideal Candidate

- 3+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience

- Manufacturing, inventory, or product-based business experience strongly preferred

- QuickBooks Desktop experience required

- ERP experience preferred

- Strong Excel skills

- Comfortable with AP, AR, reconciliations, general ledger review, and month-end support

- Able to understand how inventory, purchasing, production, and accounting connect

- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work independently

- Comfortable working in a small business environment where processes are improving

- Able to communicate accounting information clearly to non-accounting team members

Nice to Have

- Experience with BOMs, assemblies, COGS, or inventory valuation

- Experience participating in an accounting software or ERP migration

- Experience with manufacturing, food, supplement, packaging, or other inventory-heavy businesses

- Familiarity with standard costing, landed cost, or margin analysis

Company Environment

We are a small, growing manufacturing company located in an industrial park off US-19 in North St. Petersburg. The role is hands-on and practical. We are looking for someone who can help us keep the current accounting accurate while also helping us build better systems for the next stage of growth.

Job Type: Part-time

Expected Hours: Approximately 20 per week

Pay: $40-$45 per hour

Work Location: On-site to start; possible hybrid schedule after cloud ERP implementation
