Job Overview
Granite Learning is seeking a dedicated Part-Time Mathematics Tutor to support students in grades 6 through 12 across New Hampshire. This role involves providing personalized instruction, developing curriculum materials, and utilizing learning technology to enhance student understanding of mathematical concepts. As a 1099 contractor, the tutor will work independently to foster a positive learning environment and help students achieve their academic goals. Candidates with a strong background in mathematics and experience working with diverse learners are encouraged to apply.
Duties
- Deliver engaging and effective tutoring sessions in various math subjects including Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus, Discrete Math, and Statistics.
- Develop and adapt lesson plans tailored to individual student needs, incorporating curriculum development principles and current learning technology tools.
- Assess student progress regularly and adjust teaching strategies accordingly to ensure comprehension and mastery of concepts.
- Utilize classroom management techniques to create a focused and supportive learning environment.
- Incorporate knowledge of specialized areas such as organic chemistry, biochemistry, physiology, microbiology, genetics, anatomy, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, data structures, machine learning, and higher education teaching when relevant to student needs.
- Maintain detailed records of tutoring sessions and student performance data.
- Communicate effectively with students and parents regarding progress and areas for improvement.
- Stay informed about best practices in education, including early childhood education, preschool experience, special education strategies, and adult education methodologies.
Requirements
- Proven experience in tutoring or teaching mathematics at the middle or high school level.
- Strong knowledge of math topics including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, differential equations, statistics, discrete math, and related fields.
- Familiarity with curriculum development and lesson planning tailored for grades 6–12 learners.
- Proficiency with learning technology platforms and computer skills necessary for online instruction.
- Experience working with children and adolescents in educational settings; familiarity with classroom management techniques.
- Ability to adapt instructional methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and needs.
- Experience working with students who have special educational requirements or are in early childhood or preschool stages is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to motivate students of varying ages and backgrounds.
- Relevant educational background in mathematics or related STEM fields; higher education teaching experience is advantageous.
