Duties
- Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and assist with intake procedures to ensure accurate documentation.
- Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates with precision.
- Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures and assisting with skin biopsy, patch testing, chemical peels, etc.
- Support physicians and providers in administering medications, injections, or basic life support during emergencies or routine care.
- Receive training on and maintain thorough documentation within AthenaHealth Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, including ICD coding for diagnoses and procedures.
- Assist with specimen collection, wound care, and other clinical tasks aligned with your physiology knowledge and clinic protocols.
- Manage medical supplies inventory, sterilize equipment, and ensure compliance with safety standards across inpatient, outpatient, or trauma center settings.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant in settings such as dermatology, hospital medicine, urgent care, or outpatient clinics.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology to support accurate patient care.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is optional; additional certification in emergency medicine are a plus.
- Ability to perform clinical duties such as taking vital signs, assisting with medication administration, and supporting outpatient procedures.
- Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to diverse populations including geriatrics and medical-surgical patients.
