Part-Time Medical Biller and Coder

Job Description

The Medical Biller and Coder is responsible for preparing, reviewing, and submitting medical claims through billing software, including electronic submissions, website portals, and paper claim processing. This role also requires verifying insurance payments for accuracy and contract compliance to ensure proper reimbursement.

Responsibilities

• Process and pay invoices
• Manage accounting tasks within QuickBooks
• Reconcile claim payments with corresponding bank deposits
• Review and address insurance claim denials, exceptions, and exclusions in a timely manner
• Read and accurately interpret insurance Explanation of Benefits (EOBs)
• Follow up with insurance companies to resolve payment discrepancies
• Use aging reports and workflow statuses provided by the Supervisor to manage unpaid or outstanding claims over 30, 60, 90, and 120+ days
• Research and submit appeals for denied claims

Requirements

• Experience with CPT and ICD-9/10 coding; familiarity with medical terminology
• Strong understanding of billing procedures and collection practices
• Proficiency with computers, including practice management systems, clearinghouses, Microsoft Office, and spreadsheet applications
• Ability to comply with company standards, policies, and procedures

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
