• Review and process medical claims using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) coding systems to ensure accurate billing.
• Enter and update patient information accurately within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
• Follow up on unpaid or delayed claims through effective collection strategies, including contacting insurance companies and patients.
• Verify insurance coverage and benefits to facilitate smooth claim submission and reimbursement.
• Maintain detailed records of billing activities, payment histories, and collection efforts for audit readiness.
• Collaborate with medical office staff to ensure proper documentation of medical records and medical terminology for billing accuracy.
• Stay current with changes in medical coding standards, insurance policies, and billing regulations to ensure compliance.

Experience

• Prior experience in medical billing or collections within a healthcare setting is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of medical coding including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, DRG classifications, and medical terminology.
• Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems used for managing patient records and billing information.
• Proven ability to perform medical collections effectively while maintaining professional communication with patients and insurance providers.
• Experience working with medical records management and understanding of insurance claim processes is advantageous.
