Part-Time Middle School Tutor (Math, Science, ELA, History)

We are seeking a reliable, engaging, and academically strong Middle School Tutor to provide individualized instruction to one student. The ideal candidate will be confident teaching Math, Science, English Language Arts (ELA), and History at the middle school level and able to create structured yet supportive learning sessions.

This position begins in March and runs through May with afternoon hours, transitioning to expanded hours during the summer months.

Schedule

Spring (March–May):

• Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday

• 2 hours per day (afternoon)

Summer (June–July):

• Monday–Friday

• 3 hours per day

Schedule may allow minor flexibility depending on mutual availability.

Responsibilities

• Provide structured academic tutoring in: Math (including problem-solving and foundational skills), Science, English Language Arts (reading comprehension, writing, grammar), and History/Social Studies
• Reinforce curriculum and close academic gaps
• Create lesson plans tailored to the student’s needs
• Track progress and provide weekly updates
• Support study skills, organization, and test preparation
• Maintain a positive, encouraging learning environment

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required (Education preferred)
• Teaching certification preferred but not required
• Experience working with middle school students
• Strong knowledge across Math, Science, ELA, and History
• Patient, structured, and dependable
• Ability to create engaging and individualized lessons
• Ability to pass background check
