Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Tutor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in special education and a passion for helping students with diverse learning needs. This role involves working closely with a student who may have developmental disabilities, autism, or other learning challenges, providing tailored support to enhance their academic and personal growth.
Responsibilities
- Tutor a homeschooled non speaking teen who uses an app to communicate
- Provide one-on-one tutoring in subjects such as literacy, math, and other academic areas, adapting teaching methods to meet each student's needs.
- Utilize various teaching strategies, including applied behavior analysis and instructional design, to foster student engagement and understanding.
- Collaborate with parents, and other professionals to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as necessary.
- Incorporate technology into lessons to enhance learning experiences and facilitate skill development.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in special education and related fields.
Experience
- Proven experience working with children in a classroom or tutoring setting is essential.
- Familiarity with special education practices
- Experience in working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, or other special needs is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles and practices is beneficial for working with younger students.
- Strong communication skills are necessary for effective collaboration with students, families, and educational staff.
- Additional experience in areas such as speech therapy, music therapy, recreational therapy, or behavioral health will be considered an asset.
