Part-Time News Reporter / News Writer

A growing news and media company is looking for a part-time News Reporter / Writer to help produce news content for a network of regional and national news websites.

This role includes covering local stories when appropriate, as well as researching and writing news stories from around the country using reliable sources such as press releases, public information, and other news outlets.

This is a great opportunity for someone interested in journalism, media, or news reporting. Previous experience is helpful but not required. Training and guidance will be provided for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

• Research and write news stories for publication
• Identify interesting news topics from press releases and public sources
• Monitor news websites and organizations for relevant stories
• Occasionally assist with local story coverage or interviews
• Write clear, accurate, and timely articles
• Work with the editor to develop story ideas

Qualifications

• Strong writing and communication skills
• Interest in news, journalism, or media
• Comfortable researching information online
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Organized and dependable

Preferred but not required

• Writing, journalism, blogging, or media experience
• Familiarity with news writing style
• Photography or social media skills

Position Details

Compensation based on experience.

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
