The Continuing and Professional Studies (CPS) seeks a Part-time Nurse Coordinator for our Hybrid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in our Allied Health program for immediate hire.

About the CPS CNA Program

CPS Allied Health Programs offer industry-recognized certifications in a range of high-demand healthcare fields, including Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Pharmacy Technician, Medical Billing and Coding, Medical Interpreter, EKG Technician, and Phlebotomy.

The Hybrid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Certificate Program is designed to provide students with the foundational knowledge and practical skills necessary to succeed in this rewarding healthcare profession. Through a combination of comprehensive classroom instruction and supervised clinical experience, students develop core competencies in patient care, infection control, safety protocols, body mechanics, effective communication, and cultural responsiveness. Graduates are prepared to sit for the New York State Nurse Aide Certification Examination, the credential required for employment as a CNA in healthcare facilities throughout New York State.

CPS is currently seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as a Part-Time Nurse Coordinator for its 155-hour Hybrid CNA Program. The Nurse Coordinator will work collaboratively with qualified Continuing Education Teachers (CETs)/CNA Instructors to support program delivery, maintain compliance with state requirements, and ensure operational excellence. Part-time hours may vary based on CNA course offerings and enrollment.

The Part-Time Nurse Coordinator may also be eligible to apply for CNA Instructor positions at CPS and, if selected, may serve in both roles concurrently, subject to institutional needs and qualifications.

Successful candidates will demonstrate expertise in current CNA instructional practices and the ability to develop and deliver curricula aligned with NYSED training and competency standards. This includes preparing students to provide safe, high-quality care in long-term care settings under the supervision of licensed healthcare professionals.

Job Responsibilities

· Collaborate with CPS Allied Health program staff and CNA Continuing Education Teachers (CETs) to review, track, and manage all student medical documentation and clinical clearance requirements, ensuring full compliance with state and federal regulations, including New York State Education Department (NYSED) and New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) requirements.

· Work closely with CETs to review and maintain syllabi and curricula, ensuring alignment with New York State-approved curricula. Monitor instructional materials, assessments, and course delivery to ensure adherence to approved syllabi and compliance with all applicable state regulations. Collaborate with CETs and CPS staff to address student grievances and facilitate timely resolution.

· Support CPS program staff and CETs in maintaining effective classroom management and regulatory compliance, including enforcing required student-to-instructor ratios (20:1 for classroom instruction and 8:1 for clinical placements).

· Ensure that CETs complete and submit all required end-of-course documentation in a timely manner, including clinical evaluation forms, state-mandated course completion certificates, CPR certification records, and annual instructor evaluations.

· Partner with CPS program staff to continuously assess, refine, and enhance Allied Health programs to meet and exceed New York State Education Department standards and evolving industry best practices. Assist in developing and maintaining partnerships with nursing homes, healthcare organizations, and clinical facilities to support student clinical placements.

· Demonstrate the highest level of professionalism by maintaining confidentiality and exercising sound judgment when handling sensitive information. Apply cultural competence and an understanding of the needs and challenges of adult learners, including immigrant and workforce populations.

· Effectively manage administrative responsibilities, including maintaining regular communication with program staff through reports and updates, submitting timesheets in a timely manner, and reviewing, revising, and submitting curriculum materials for New York State Education Department approval (next scheduled review deadline: 2027).

· Collaborate closely with CPS staff to strengthen program quality and effectiveness. Contribute to the selection of instructional materials, continuous improvement of curricula and syllabi, development of testing schedules, and integration of technology tools, including social media platforms, electronic data collection systems, and communication technologies.

· Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• BSN and NYS Registered Nurse license. At least ten years of practical experience, with a significant portion in long-term care or a skilled nursing facility. International credentials will require professional evaluation. Please request for agency list that provide acceptable evaluation.
• At least five years of instructional allied health experience that includes curriculum and syllabus design, effective classroom management, and monitoring of required student medical documentation.
• Strong familiarity with NYS regulations and compliance governing allied health programming and course delivery.
• Proficient in the use of technology in the classroom, including Zoom and Brightspace.
