Part-Time Nurse Practitioner – Internal Medicine

Position Overview

Lackawanna Medical Group is seeking a Part-Time Nurse Practitioner (NP) to support our Internal Medicine division. This role focuses on delivering high-quality, patient-centered primary care within a collaborative, physician-led environment.

The Nurse Practitioner will provide comprehensive care to adult patients, managing both acute and chronic conditions while emphasizing prevention, continuity, and long-term patient relationships.

Schedule

  • Part-time (2–3 days per week)
  • Flexible scheduling based on practice needs
  • No nights or minimal call (customize if needed)

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive primary care services including evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of acute and chronic conditions
  • Perform physical exams and detailed patient assessments
  • Obtain and document complete medical histories
  • Order, interpret, and follow up on diagnostic tests and lab results
  • Develop and implement personalized treatment plans
  • Prescribe medications and manage ongoing therapies in accordance with PA regulations
  • Manage chronic conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, and other common internal medicine diagnoses
  • Provide preventive care and health education, including lifestyle counseling and disease prevention
  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records (EMR) documentation
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and clinical staff to ensure coordinated care
  • Participate in care coordination, referrals, and follow-up management
  • Support practice initiatives related to quality, outcomes, and patient satisfaction

Qualifications

  • Active Pennsylvania Nurse Practitioner license
  • Board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Adult-Gerontology NP (AGNP)
  • Current DEA license (or ability to obtain)
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in primary care or internal medicine preferred
  • Strong clinical judgment and ability to manage a broad range of conditions
  • Excellent communication and patient engagement skills
