Part-Time Nurse Practitioner – Outpatient Cardiology

Job Overview

Zaidi Heart Clinic is seeking a PRN/per diem Nurse Practitioner to provide outpatient cardiology coverage at our Las Vegas clinic, located on Smoke Ranch Road near MountainView Hospital.

This position is ideal for an experienced Nurse Practitioner who is comfortable seeing outpatient cardiology patients independently while working closely with the supervising cardiologist. The role is primarily intended to provide clinic coverage when the physician is out of town or when additional outpatient cardiology support is needed.

Our clinic is a professional, safe, and well-located outpatient practice shared with two pulmonologists. We use eClinicalWorks as our EMR and have a supportive clinic team, including a practice manager and two medical assistants. The office has two exam rooms and a calm, patient-focused environment.

The ideal candidate should have prior cardiology experience and be comfortable evaluating new and follow-up patients, reviewing cardiac test results, managing common cardiovascular conditions, and communicating clearly with patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate new and established outpatient cardiology patients.
• Obtain focused cardiovascular histories and perform appropriate physical examinations.
• Manage common cardiology conditions including hypertension, coronary artery disease, chest pain, palpitations, arrhythmias, heart failure, hyperlipidemia, and pre-operative cardiac evaluations.
• Review and discuss results of echocardiograms, stress tests, Holter/event monitors, labs, coronary calcium scores, CT angiograms, and hospital records when available.
• Adjust and refill cardiovascular medications when appropriate.
• Provide patient education regarding cardiac risk factors, medications, lifestyle changes, testing, and follow-up plans.
• Document patient visits clearly and accurately in eClinicalWorks.
• Coordinate care with the supervising cardiologist, practice manager, medical assistants, referring providers, and outside facilities as needed.
• Assist with follow-up planning, test ordering, referrals, and patient communication.
• Help provide coverage when the physician is out of town or when additional clinic support is needed.

Requirements

• Active Nevada Nurse Practitioner license.
• Prior outpatient cardiology experience strongly preferred.
• Comfortable managing common cardiovascular conditions in an outpatient setting.
• Ability to work independently while following practice protocols and communicating with the supervising cardiologist.
• Experience with eClinicalWorks is preferred but not required.
• Strong documentation, communication, and patient-care skills.
• Professional, dependable, organized, and comfortable working in a small private practice environment.
• Must be comfortable working with a small team, including a practice manager and medical assistants.

Schedule

• PRN / per diem position.
• Flexible schedule.
• Coverage mainly needed when the physician is out of town or when additional clinic support is required.
• No nights.
• No weekends.
• No hospital call.

Compensation

• $65–$80 per hour, depending on cardiology experience.
