Duties and responsibilities:

  • Further Development of the HR Department
  • Interpret and apply company policies, benefits, practices, procedures, programs, and applicable laws.
  • Manage the job matrix and accuracy of job titles and job descriptions
  • Develop, implement, and lead a consistent and effective recruitment process, including using technology such as posting sites for recruiting and the company HRIS system for company record keeping and employee management.
  • Facilitate the employee performance review process, including working with managers and staff on goal setting, continual feedback, and performance improvement and excellence.
  • Analyze training needs for employees, including safety programs, and partner with department leaders to develop, deploy and track job-specific training.
  • Advise on and build programming around staff development strategy and succession planning.
  • Advise, coach and counsel management in appropriate resolution of employee performance issues.
  • Conduct employee internal investigations and stay/exit interviews as needed.
  • Facilitate, schedule, and track new employee onboarding and orientation and ensure a consistent and excellent experience.
  • Oversee the completion of worker’s compensation claims, including auditing, reporting and claims management, maintain OSHA log, and unemployment claims.
  • Partner with leaders to develop and maintain fair and market competitive pay scales, promotion processes, and annual increases.
  • Working with external brokers, lead the annual benefits review process to ensure CAC is offering market benefits and cost effective employee benefits.
  • Serve as the direct supervisor to the People Operations Generalist.
  • Support and participate in community events and fundraisers supporting the shelter.
  • Be proficient and train to become an advanced user of our HRIS
  • Perform other related HR administration duties as required

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field and a minimum of 5 years' related experience.
  • HR certification/credential preferred (SHRM-SCP or HRCI SPHR).
  • Proficient with GoogleSuite or related software.
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity, performance management, training and development and federal and state respective employment laws.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances and policies.
  • Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization's hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices and the administrative practices related to those factors.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Working Conditions:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or operate objects, controls, or tools listed above; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; in high, precarious places; and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
  • Prolonged sitting is required.
  • Exposure and handling unvetted animals and their waste is frequent.

Job Type: Part-time

Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week
