Part Time Phlebotomist / Drug Test Collector

Job Title: Medical Assistant / Phlebotomist (Part-Time)

Job Summary:

As a Medical Assistant, you will be an integral part of our team, working directly with staff and patients to ensure a smooth and supportive experience. Your role will encompass a variety of essential office and clinical duties, always with a focus on patient comfort and comprehensive care. Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care & Support:
  • Escort patients to exam rooms, take vital signs, and prepare them for testing and collections.
  • Provide compassionate and engaging care, ensuring patient comfort and understanding throughout their visit.
  • Perform observed and unobserved urine collections, as well as offsite (mobile) and after-hours collections as directed.
  • Clinical & Laboratory Duties:
  • Collect and prepare various lab specimens (urine, saliva, hair, nail, blood draws/venipuncture) with high proficiency.
  • Maintain lab rooms, ensuring they are stocked, clean, and organized according to protocol.
  • Enter data into appropriate systems, scan, and accurately index documents.
  • Administer accurate, reliable, confidential, and timely notifications of lab results.
  • Communicate effectively and accurately with clients, Designated Employee Representatives, and Medical Review Officers.
  • Administrative & Office Support:
  • Handle front desk duties, including checking patients in and out, managing walk-in patients, answering calls, taking payments and scheduling appointments.
  • Maintain patient accounts and records, perform word processing, and manage scheduling.
  • Maintain all logs and ensure accurate record-keeping.
  • Perform cleaning duties to comply with lab protocols and daily office upkeep.
  • Maintain laboratory supplies inventory by checking stock, anticipating needs, placing and expediting orders, and verifying receipt of supplies.
  • Perform daily drop-off of FedEx, UPS, and other packages (as needed).
  • Adhere to all relevant state/federal regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the clinic.

Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrable Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with patients and colleagues.
  • Exceptional Customer Service: Proven strong customer service and phone etiquette skills.
  • Medical Knowledge: Knowledge of basic medical terminology, immunization requirements, and medical safety practices and standards.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to plan, prioritize, and organize tasks efficiently.
  • Reporting & Correspondence: Skilled in preparing records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence professionally.
  • Computer Literacy: Proficient in computer usage.
  • Bilingual Proficiency: Fluent in both English and Spanish (preferred).
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Multi-Tasking: Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Compassion: A genuine desire to provide the utmost in patient/customer care and go the extra mile for patients.

Education & Experience:

  • Medical Assistant Certification or Phlebotomy Certification.
  • 1-2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a health center or medical office (preferred).
  • High School Diploma or GED (Required).
  • Experience collecting specimens with high proficiency in blood draws/venipuncture (Required).
  • Experience in DOT drug testing and/or DNA testing (a plus).
  • Understanding of HIPAA regulations (highly desired).
  • Clean background Check and Drug testing report required.

Work Environment & Schedule:

This is an initial Part-time position, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. As our business grows, the workdays and hours may increase. Flexibility to work extra hours as needed is appreciated.
