Champaign Park District – Part-Time 2, Hourly, Non-Exempt (not to exceed 19 hours per week on average)

About the Job

The Preschool Instructor plays a key role in creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for young children. Working as part of a collaborative team, this position helps implement daily preschool activities that support early childhood development while fostering positive experiences for both children and families. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact during children’s earliest learning years.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Supervise and actively engage children in indoor and outdoor preschool activities
  • Plan, prepare, and organize developmentally appropriate activities such as art, music, storytelling, and science
  • Assist with overall program preparation and daily lesson planning
  • Create a warm, welcoming, and inclusive environment for children and parents
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe program area
  • Inspect equipment and facilities for safety concerns and report issues promptly
  • Follow all Champaign Park District safety policies and procedures
  • Attend required meetings and trainings
  • Support Park District values, teamwork, and positive interactions with patrons and staff
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • One of the following combinations of education and experience:
    • Sixty (60) semester hours of college coursework with at least eighteen (18) hours in early childhood education, child development, or a related field, or
    • Thirty (30) semester hours of college coursework and one (1) year of childcare experience, or
    • A Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, or
    • A high school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of childcare experience.
