Part-Time Private Educator

Location: Pensacola, FL (in-home)
Schedule: Approximately 15 hours per week across 3–4 daytime sessions
Start Date: August 2026
Compensation: $50–90/hour as a 1099 contractor

Role Overview

We are seeking a warm, engaging, and highly capable educator to support a rising 6th grade student in a personalized in-home learning environment during the school year.

The student is enrolled in an online academic program, and this role goes far beyond traditional tutoring. You will serve as a consistent academic guide during the school day — helping translate online coursework into meaningful, interactive learning experiences while providing the structure, pacing, and encouragement she needs to thrive.

This is an ideal opportunity for an educator who enjoys building strong student relationships, personalizing instruction, and helping bright students develop confidence, independence, and stronger learning habits. The family splits time between Nashville and Pensacola, and the Pensacola educator will work collaboratively with the student’s Nashville-based teacher to create consistency and smooth transitions between homes.

Student Profile

You’ll be working with a rising 6th grade student who is bubbly, social, creative, and highly relational. She loves arts and fashion, enjoys strong connections with trusted adults, and genuinely wants to do well academically.

She has ADHD and benefits from a highly personalized learning environment with clear expectations, structure, and active engagement. Like many students with attention challenges, she thrives when instruction feels interactive, supportive, and connected to her interests. In a strong 1:1 setting, she is capable, motivated, and eager to learn.

The family is thoughtful and collaborative and values consistency, communication, and relationship-centered education. They are looking for an educator who can become a trusted part of the student’s broader support team while helping learning feel manageable, engaging, and successful.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide in-home, one-on-one academic support across core middle school subjects
  • Translate online curriculum into engaging, interactive instruction
  • Re-teach challenging concepts and pre-teach upcoming material when helpful
  • Create supplemental lessons and activities to strengthen understanding and fill learning gaps
  • Support executive functioning skills including organization, pacing, time management, and task initiation
  • Build routines and structure that help the student stay focused and confident throughout the school day
  • Adapt instruction based on attention, energy, and learning style
  • Collaborate as needed with the student’s Nashville-based educator to support continuity between homes
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding progress, challenges, and observations
  • Help foster increasing independence, self-confidence, and ownership of learning over time

What Makes Someone Successful in This Role

  • You are warm, relational, and naturally engaging with middle school students
  • You know how to balance structure with flexibility and encouragement
  • You are confident supporting students with ADHD and attention-related challenges
  • You can make academic material feel interactive, accessible, and interesting
  • You are highly organized and comfortable independently managing a student’s academic day
  • You communicate professionally and collaboratively with families and other educators
  • You are proactive, dependable, and comfortable working in a private-home setting
  • You enjoy deeply personalized education and the opportunity to build meaningful student relationships
