Part-Time Program Assistant (CNA/PCA)

Do you have a passion for caring for senior adults and facilitating engaging activities? We provide day time programming for seniors facing the challenges of aging. Our program helps our seniors rediscover a sense of purpose and allows family caregivers the opportunity to take respite. A highlight of our program is our intergenerational activities with children attending Brynmor Child Development Center and a variety of other community groups. Our interdisciplinary team works together to create a person-centered and meaningful environment where our senior adults can thrive. We are looking for an enthusiastic, servant-hearted, and self-motivated program assistant who will lead our participants through our daily activity program and ensure that everyone has a great day.

The right candidate will be highly reliable, engaged, and committed, enjoy leading activities such as reminiscing, crafts, and gardening, have good listening skills and empathy for others, enjoy working in a team environment, and will be motivated to connect with our senior adult participants.

The Program Assistant:

  • Facilitates and supports assigned scheduled daily activities for groups of 12 or more senior adults to support cognitive, social, emotional, spiritual, and physical well-being under the direction of the Activities Coordinator.
  • Provides hands-on support to participants including personal hygiene, medication management, document and manage food intake, and minimal assistance with other activities of daily living.
  • Provides input to Activities Coordinator for monthly activity planning.
  • Updates participant charts on paper and on the online health system as directed.
  • Consistently monitors and supervises participants throughout the day for changes in condition and responds promptly to meet needs.
  • Administers medications (if qualified) as needed.
  • Supports Center operations including, but not limited to, food service, cleaning, organizing supplies, and ensuring a safe environment for all participants.
  • Ensures participants are fully engaged in the program by providing prompting questions, modifications to activities, and hands-on help to succeed in planned activities.

Schedule Requirements

This shift for this part-time position is 6 hours/day Monday-Friday (30 hours weekly) from 10am-4pm. There will be additional opportunities to cover shifts for additional hours.

Required Qualifications

Must be able to lead group activities for senior adults including, but not limited to discussion groups, games, crafts, reminiscing, and gardening (Training Provided). Must have current state certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant or Personal Care Aide. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Timeliness and reliability are a must.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience leading group activities for older and/or adults with a disability. Experience working with older and/or adults with a disability. MedTech Certification. CPR/First Aid certified.
