Position Overview
Shibumi Shade is seeking a part-time Community Manager to lead brand integration and local influence within one of our 2026 focus markets: Wildwood, NJ; Point Pleasant, NJ; Rockaway Beach, NY; Hampton Beach, NH
The Community Manager’s mission is simple: embed Shibumi into the culture of their beach town. From building meaningful local partnerships and supporting retailers to hosting community activations and driving organic product trial, you’ll be responsible for making Shibumi feel unmistakably “everywhere” in your market.
You’ll serve as the local face of the brand growing awareness, building relationships, and creating moments that compound influence all season long.

Core Responsibilities
Own Shibumi’s Presence in Your Market
- Serve as Shibumi’s primary representative in your beach town
- Build authentic relationships with local businesses, beach organizations, event organizers, and community leaders
- Develop partnerships that create ongoing brand visibility (giveaways, sponsorships, collaborations, product placements)
Execute Consistent Beach Trial & Product Demos
- Conduct recurring free beach setups and product demonstrations throughout the season
- Create inviting “Shibumi Zones” that encourage product interaction and conversation
- Educate beachgoers on product benefits and collect feedback
- Submit post-activation recaps and insights
- Support local capture initiatives (QR Codes, SMS opt-ins) to help build owned audiences within the market.
- Capture and submit photo/video content from beach activations, partnerships, and retail visits.
Identify & Execute Local Community Activations
- Source and evaluate small-to-mid scale local events (surf contests, beach yoga, 5Ks, tournaments, community festivals, etc.)
- Plan and manage event participation when strategically aligned
- Execute brand presence at approved events (setup, engagement, teardown, reporting)
Retail & Local Business Support
- Visit and build relationships with local retail partners
- Support retailers with:
- In-store engagement ideas
- Product education
- Occasional in-store demos or “Sip & Sit”-style activations (where applicable)
- Identify new potential retail or hospitality partners
- Provide feedback to corporate on sell-through trends and in-market sentiment
Strategic Gifting & Community Integration
- Identify local fundraising events, beach nonprofits, school booster programs, and charity auctions for product donations
- Recommend and execute approved product placements
- Use product strategically to deepen community integration and increase brand visibility
Market Intelligence & Reporting
- Conduct light market research (competitors, trends, beach dynamics)
- Track and report:
- Partnerships created + feedback
- Activations executed + feedback
- Other qualitative market feedback
- Participate in bi-weekly team calls and ongoing check-ins
- Maintain organized tracking within company systems
Seasonal Expectations
- Participate in a preseason team offsite (travel and accommodations provided)
- Work approximately 15–20 hours per week during peak season
- Primarily available Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays
- Maintain consistent presence on the beach throughout summer months
- Transport and manage event materials locally
Ideal Candidate Profile
- MUST live near a popular beach in our target market (no more than 15 miles away)
- MUST be able to reliably drive to the beach and transport any supporting promo items
- MUST be able to work at least 15-20 hours most weeks during the spring and summer months, primarily on Saturdays and Sundays
- MUST be able to lift 25-35 pounds.
- Comfortable working in heat, sand and wind
- Related experience as a community manager, brand ambassador or a current/prior position in the marketing, beach, or hospitality industry
- Strong relationship-builder and natural networker
- Entrepreneurial mindset; comfortable operating independently
- Organized and accountable
- Comfortable speaking to groups and approaching strangers
- Experience in marketing, hospitality, events, retail, or community leadership preferred
- A demonstrated love for the beach and a passion to improve the beach experience
- A high school degree is required; a college degree or direct experience in marketing and events is preferred
