Part-Time Short-Form Video Content Creator

Moving Tree Media is a short-form video marketing company based in the Twin Cities. We help small and mid-sized businesses stay visible online through consistent, high-performing short-form video content. Our clients include contractors, construction companies, home service businesses, and professional services firms.

We are not a videography company. We are a video marketing system. Our clients show up, talk about what they know, and we handle everything else. We believe consistency beats perfection, authentic content outperforms polished production, and every business has more content potential than they realize.

About the Role:

This is not a traditional videographer role.

We are looking for someone who thinks like a content creator, not a filmmaker. Someone who shows up to a client's job site or office, reads the room immediately, and knows exactly what hook, format, or filming style will stop someone mid-scroll. Someone who can coach a nervous business owner on camera, capture something real in two takes, and edit it natively inside TikTok or Instagram without needing a laptop.

You will work alongside our team at client shoots, capture phone-based content, brainstorm short-form concepts, and push clients toward content that actually performs. You bring the trends. We bring the clients and the system.

What You Will Do:

• Attend local client shoots and capture short-form vertical video content on your phone
• Direct clients and subjects on camera, suggest hooks, coach delivery, and guide movement to get footage that performs
• Edit content using CapCut or similar mobile editing apps
• Bring current trend awareness to every shoot, including hook formats, filming styles, sounds, and platform behavior
• Shoot behind-the-scenes clips, quick interviews, POV content, and trend-inspired formats that fit each client's business
• Communicate shoot ideas and content concepts clearly to the Moving Tree Media team
• Deliver content on tight timelines. Some clients require drafts within 48 hours of a shoot.

What We Are Looking For:

Non-negotiable:

• Proven experience creating short-form video content for businesses, not just personal accounts. We will ask to see this.
• Deep, current knowledge of what is performing on TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and Facebook Reels right now, including formats, hooks, trending audio, and filming styles
• Proficiency with CapCut or similar mobile editing apps
• Ability to direct people on camera who have never done this before. You are patient, encouraging, and know how to get a usable take out of someone who is nervous.
• Strong people skills. Our clients are busy business owners. You earn trust quickly, make people comfortable, and make shoots feel easy.
• Available for shoots on 48-hour notice. This is a real requirement, not a formality.
• A smartphone capable of shooting high-quality vertical video

Strong to have:

• Background working with construction, home services, or B2B clients
• Understanding of how consistency and format variety affect algorithm performance
• Experience juggling content work across multiple clients simultaneously

Who This Is a Good Fit For:

This could be a great fit for a college student, recent graduate, freelancer, or creator who already loves making short-form content and genuinely wants to use those skills to help businesses grow.

We are not looking for someone who only wants to make cinematic videos or who sees phone content as beneath them. We are looking for someone who knows that sometimes the most effective content is simple, authentic, and filmed in one take on an iPhone, and who gets excited about that.

Schedule and Pay:

Independent contractor (1099) position starting at 5 to 10 hours per week. Hours will grow over time. Pay is $25 per hour.

We will start with a paid trial of two to three shoots before moving into an ongoing arrangement. This gives both of us a chance to find out if we are a good fit before making a bigger commitment.
