Part-Time Special Education Teacher - Summer 2026 - In-Person & Virtual

Special Education Teacher (No IEPs, Direct Instruction, No Case Management)

If you’re a Colorado-licensed Special Education teacher who still loves teaching but not the paperwork and overwhelm that comes with it, this role may be the right fit.

This part-time position focuses on direct instruction - working with students in small groups and one-on-one - with no IEP case management.

This role is ideal for educators who want to stay connected to students during summer while enjoying a schedule that supports balance and well-being.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide direct instruction in literacy, math, and executive functioning skills
  • Work with students in-person or virtually
  • Work one-on-one with students in small groups (no more than four students)
  • Complete brief session notes after instruction

Curriculum and instructional materials are provided.

Schedule & School Locations

  • In-person sessions are scheduled during school-day hours (generally between 8:00-4:00) M-F. Virtual sessions could be in the morning, afternoon or evening.
  • Teachers may serve more than one school site, but all locations are within the City & County of Denver
  • When multiple schools are scheduled on the same day, travel distance is kept short and manageable (Mileage is reimbursed)
  • Weekly schedules are established in advance

What This Position Does Not Require

  • No IEP writing or case management
  • No supervision of paras or aides
  • No grading outside of sessions

Your time goes to students, not administrative load.

Requirements

  • Active Colorado Special Education Teaching License (Generalist 5-21 preferred; other endorsements considered)
  • Experience providing differentiated instruction in literacy and/or math (READ Act certification preferred, not required)
  • Ability to support learners with varied needs and learning profiles
  • Willing to work 20-30 hours a week during the summer. Summer program starts in June and may go through the beginning of August.
  • Willing to commute to any school within the City & County of Denver
  • Willing to provide both in-person and virtual sessions

Salary Range: $60.00 to $65.00 per hour
