Duties

• Lead and facilitate a variety of camp activities including sports, arts and crafts, theater, and outdoor adventures to promote active engagement and learning.
• Manage classroom dynamics with effective behavior management strategies, ensuring a respectful and positive atmosphere for children of diverse backgrounds.
• Provide attentive childcare by supervising children during activities, transitions, meals, and rest periods to ensure safety at all times.
• Implement age-appropriate educational programs that support childhood development and early childhood education principles.
• Administer basic first aid when necessary and follow health protocols to address minor injuries or health concerns promptly.
• Collaborate with fellow staff members to plan daily schedules, special events, and themed activities that enhance the summer camp experience.
• Communicate regularly with parents or guardians about camper progress, behavior, and any concerns to foster transparency and trust.

Skills

• Strong classroom management skills with the ability to guide children’s behavior positively and effectively.
• Experience working with children in settings such as daycare, tutoring, special education, or childcare environments.
• Knowledge of childhood development stages and early childhood education best practices.
• Ability to lead sports coaching sessions or recreational activities that promote physical activity and teamwork.
• Certification in first aid and CPR to ensure safety during all camp activities.
• Excellent communication skills for working with children, parents, and team members with clarity and enthusiasm.
• Passion for working with students in dynamic environments like summer camps or daycare centers; experience in theater or babysitting is a plus.
