POSITION SUMMARY AND INTRODUCTION:

The Teller at WFTFCU is responsible for providing routine transaction support while maintaining a high level of professionalism and service with every interaction. They balance a teller drawer daily and support other cash management functions as required. They support member inquiries with a solutions-based approach, educating the members on our products and services whenever appropriate.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

1. Assumes responsibility for the accurate and timely performance of all Teller functions.

  • Processes share deposits and loan payments, in person, by mail, and through the night drop.
  • Processes withdrawals, transfers, cash advances, cashier’s checks, gift card purchases, and other transactions as they are presented.
  • Helps balance the vault, ATM, and TCRs in dual control as assigned.
  • Diligently supports federally required reports and filing, following all established policies and procedures.
  • Opens and closes teller cash drawer daily. Balancing at the end of each day and reporting outages to the direct supervisor immediately.
  • Participates in the opening and closing of the credit union as assigned, following all safety policies and procedures.
  • Verifies transactions, monitors deposit amounts, and examines documents for endorsement and negotiability.
  • Detect and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Follows proper identification and authentication procedures by verifying the identity of members with every inquiry and transaction.
  • Supports member inquiries and transaction requests over the phone.
  • Performs drive-up teller functions as assigned.
  • Cross-sells Credit Union services.
  • Maintains teller limits, follows hold protocols, and escalates approvals as appropriate.

2. Represents the Credit Union in a courteous and professional manner.

3. Maintains confidentiality in all facets of the job duties and functions.

  • Holds tightly to all internal controls, security protocols, and compliance requirements.
  • Securely manages all member information, share information, and employee credentials.
  • Reports any compromise to HR immediately.

4. Participates and completes corporate trainings and meetings as required.

5. Establishes and maintains professional business relations with members, colleagues, management, and the community.

  • Ensures that members' requests and questions are promptly resolved.
  • Accepts change of address requests, check orders, and travel note requests on behalf of member services as needed.
  • Educates members of Credit Union services and policies including member eligibility, product types, interest and dividend rates, and other related services or information.
  • Considers the Credit Union's reputation in decisions made in and out of the workplace, reporting any potential reputational risks to the CEO immediately.
  • Participates regularly in team building and engagement activities.
  • Assists colleagues with and without asking.
  • Keeps supervisor informed of any significant problems or concerns.
  • Supports the prosperity of the credit union by participating in community outreach activities when possible.

6. Reports to work as scheduled and in accordance with attendance policies and procedures.

7. Assumes responsibility for other related duties as required or assigned, to include related clerical duties, filing, and scanning.

8. Maintains clean and secure work area.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE:

  • Understanding of Teller functions and procedures.
  • Basic understanding of Credit Union operations.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Previous customer service, retail, and/or cash handling experience preferred.
  • Abilities generally acquired on the job within 12 months.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

This position is regularly required to sit, stand, talk, hear or use hands and arms to frequently reach. It is occasionally required to walk, climb or balance; may occasionally lift, move, push or pull up to 10 pounds. Requires the ability to see up close and stare at a computer for long periods of time. This is an indoor position, and the noise level is usually moderate.
