Job Description:
DefinIT Solutions is seeking a reliable and experienced Part-Time Tier 2 IT Technician with strong technical skills and the ability to work independently. This position has the potential to transition into a full-time role, based on performance, reliability, and technical growth. We are looking for someone who is on the verge of Tier 3-level expertise and can confidently manage advanced support tasks with minimal supervision.
This role requires hands-on work—including climbing ladders, handling heights, accessing rooftops, and participating in various project-based assignments. Strong communication, professionalism, and customer service skills are essential, as you will interact directly with clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond to and resolve escalated technical issues from Tier 1 support in a timely and efficient manner.
- Perform in-depth troubleshooting of hardware, software, and network-related issues.
- Manage, monitor, and maintain client IT infrastructures, including servers, workstations, and network equipment.
- Install, configure, and upgrade operating systems, software applications, and hardware components.
- Apply updates, patches, and security measures to ensure system integrity.
- Assist with cloud deployments, backup systems, and related solutions.
- Participate in project work, including structured cabling, equipment installs, and field work requiring ladders and roof access.
- Maintain accurate documentation of technical processes, configurations, and service activities.
- Deliver exceptional customer service and communicate clearly with clients and team members.
- Work independently and demonstrate judgment aligned with near Tier 3-level expertise.
Qualifications:
- Proven hands-on experience as a Tier 2 IT Technician in a Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment.
- Schooling does NOT count as experience—actual real-world experience is required.
- Strong understanding of Windows and Linux systems, networking protocols, firewalls, and IT infrastructure.
- Proficient in troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues independently.
- Experience with virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud platforms.
- Familiarity with IT security practices, tools, and monitoring systems.
- Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and access rooftops safely.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with clients.
- Relevant certifications (CompTIA Network+, Security+, Azure Administrator, etc.) are a plus but not required.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
