Duties

• Safely operate 26' straight trucks with manual or automatic transmissions.
• Load and unload freight using appropriate equipment, ensuring cargo integrity and adherence to safety protocols.
• Drive route-specific deliveries, managing schedules to meet delivery deadlines efficiently.
• Inspect vehicles before and after trips, checking for mechanical issues or safety concerns.
• Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, routes traveled, and cargo details in compliance with transportation regulations.
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to coordinate pickups and deliveries.
• Follow all safety procedures related to the job.

Experience

• Proven experience as a truck driver with a focus on freight delivery.
• Familiarity with driving manual or automatic transmission straight trucks.
• Knowledge of load securing techniques for different freight types including freight that requires special handling.
• Experience in route driving with a strong understanding of traffic laws and safety regulations.
• Ability to load & unload cargo efficiently.
• Prior experience working with delivery schedules and managing multiple stops in a timely manner.
• Valid Class C Driver's License and DOT medical card; experience operating straight trucks and liftgates preferred.
