Part-Time Tutor (College Students Encouraged to Apply) – GEAR UP Program

Job Summary

The GEAR UP program at Soap Lake High School is seeking a part-time tutor, ideal for college students or aspiring educators(High Schoolers), to support high school students in English and Math. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience working in education, mentoring students, and building teaching skills.

Schedule Details:

• 4 days per week
• 1.5 hours per session (6 hours total per week)
• Sessions will take place before school and/or during lunch periods
• Schedule can be somewhat flexible based on availability

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring in English and Math
• Help students with homework, assignments, and study habits
• Reinforce classroom learning in a clear and supportive way
• Encourage student confidence, organization, and academic growth
• Maintain a positive and respectful learning environment

Qualifications:

• Current college student or recent graduate preferred
• Comfortable with high school-level English and Math concepts
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Dependable, patient, and approachable
• Interest in education, mentoring, or working with youth

Preferred (but not required):

• Previous tutoring or mentoring experience
• Education, English, Math, or related field of study
• Bilingual (English/Spanish)
