The Parts Associate supports daily operations of the dealership’s parts department by assisting customers, technicians, and sales staff in sourcing and purchasing marine parts and accessories. This role ensures accurate inventory management, prompt customer service, and efficient coordination with the service department to keep repairs and sales running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service & Sales
- Assist walk-in and phone customers in identifying and selecting the correct marine parts and accessories.
- Provide product knowledge, pricing, and availability information.
- Generate parts invoices, process payments, and complete sales transactions.
- Develop strong customer relationships and promote add-on merchandise.
Technician & Service Support
- Supply required parts to service technicians in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate records of parts issued to service work orders.
- Communicate with the service department about backorders, special orders, and parts delays.
Inventory Management
- Receive, inspect, and stock incoming parts shipments.
- Maintain an organized and clean parts room and retail display area.
- Conduct regular inventory counts and assist with cycle counts.
- Monitor stock levels and recommend re-orders to maintain adequate supply.
Ordering & Documentation
- Place orders with manufacturers and vendors as needed.
- Track shipments and follow up on backordered parts.
- Maintain accurate inventory and customer records in the dealership management system.
- Ensure proper labeling, storage, and handling of all parts.
Qualifications Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Basic mechanical understanding of boats, engines, and marine equipment.
- Ability to learn and use electronic parts catalogs and dealership management systems.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift 40–50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
Preferred
- Previous experience in a parts department, marine dealership, or similar retail/technical environment.
- Familiarity with marine brands such as Yamaha, Mercury, Volvo Penta
- Knowledge of boating terminology and marine repair procedures.

Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour
