Job Summary

We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Parts Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive service and supply chain management, with the ability to oversee inventory, procurement, sales, and staff, ensuring technicians and customers get the right parts quickly for maintenance/repairs, managing stock levels, optimizing supplier deals, handling special orders, driving profit through merchandising and sales, and maintaining accurate inventory records.

Duties

  • Inventory Control & Management: Maintain optimal stock levels for critical forklift components such as batteries, tires, hydraulic pumps, and filters. This includes performing regular audits, cycle counts, and tracking inventory turnover rates to minimize obsolescence.
  • Procurement & Vendor Relations: Source parts from Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and aftermarket vendors. They negotiate pricing, manage shipping and receiving, and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure timely delivery and competitive costs.
  • Departmental Profitability: Establish pricing strategies to meet gross profit targets while remaining competitive in the market. They are often responsible for meeting monthly and annual sales KPIs and managing the department’s operating budget.
  • Service Department Support: Work closely with the Service Manager to ensure technicians have the necessary parts for planned maintenance and emergency repairs, minimizing forklift downtime.
  • Team Leadership: Hire, train, and supervise parts department staff, including parts counterpersons, warehouse associates, and delivery drivers.
  • Customer Service & Sales: Handle complex customer inquiries, provide technical parts identification for various forklift models, and manage special orders for unique or out-of-stock items.
  • Warranty & Returns Management: Oversee the accurate processing of parts warranties, core returns, and factory return programs to maximize department credits.
  • Safety & Compliance: Enforce safety protocols within the parts warehouse, including proper storage of hazardous materials and ensuring staff are trained in safe forklift operation.

Qualifications

  • Proven management experience in automotive service or a related field is preferred.
  • Familiarity with supply chain management principles and practices.
  • Strong negotiation skills with a focus on achieving favorable pricing outcomes.
  • Experience with logistics operations and inventory management systems is a plus.
  • Ability to operate forklifts safely; certification may be required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with suppliers and team members.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
