We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Parts Manager to oversee the procurement, inventory management, and distribution of automotive parts within our diesel repair shop. The ideal candidate will possess strong supply chain management skills, familiarity with automotive diagnostics, and proficiency in warehouse operations. This role is vital in ensuring the seamless flow of parts to support automotive service, repair, and manufacturing processes. The Parts Manager will lead supplier relationships, optimize inventory levels, and coordinate logistics to meet operational demands efficiently.
Responsibilities
Manage the entire parts inventory lifecycle, including ordering, receiving, storage, and distribution.
Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure timely procurement of OEM and aftermarket parts.
Oversee warehouse operations, including shipping & receiving, equipment repair parts, and warehouse organization.
Coordinate with automotive service teams to ensure the availability of necessary parts for repairs and manufacturing.
Monitor pricing strategies and negotiate contracts with suppliers to optimize costs.
Implement inventory control measures to reduce excess stock and prevent shortages.
Lead procurement management efforts for sourcing high-quality parts while adhering to budget constraints.
Ensure compliance with safety standards related to warehouse management and equipment operation such as forklifts.
Maintain accurate data entry related to inventory transactions and order processing.
Collaborate with logistics teams to streamline shipping & receiving processes and improve delivery times.
Provide excellent customer service by addressing internal requests promptly and accurately managing order fulfillment.
Requirements
Proven experience in supply chain management within the automotive or manufacturing industry.
Strong knowledge of automotive diagnostics, auto body repair, HVAC systems, and mechanical repair processes.
Familiarity with ERP systems (such as AS400), CMMS software, and order management systems.
Experience in warehouse management, shipping & receiving, procurement management, sourcing, and inventory control.
Mechanical knowledge related to automotive repair equipment and OEM parts sourcing.
Ability to negotiate effectively with suppliers and manage pricing strategies.
Proficiency in data entry and demand planning tools for accurate inventory. Background in automotive service centers is highly desirable.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
Excellent customer service skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
