Responsibilities:

Parts Sourcing and Procurement:
  • Research, evaluate, and select suppliers and vendors for heavy-duty truck parts and supplies based on factors such as pricing, quality, availability, and reliability.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with parts suppliers to secure competitive pricing and favorable terms for parts purchases.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, vendors, and manufacturers to ensure timely delivery of parts and resolve any issues or concerns.
Inventory Management:
  • Monitor inventory levels of parts and supplies, including stock levels, reorder points, and lead times, to ensure adequate stock on hand for shop operations.
Parts Identification and Specification:
  • Identify and source parts and components for heavy-duty trucks and trailers based on specific vehicle makes, models, and configurations.
  • Interpret technical diagrams, parts manuals, and specifications to ensure that ordered parts meet manufacturer requirements and compatibility with customer vehicles.
  • Collaborate with service technicians and mechanics to identify parts needed for service and repair jobs, providing guidance and recommendations as needed.
Purchasing Administration:
  • Generate purchase orders for parts and supplies, documenting part numbers, descriptions, quantities, pricing, and delivery instructions accurately.
  • Coordinate with accounting and finance departments to ensure timely processing of purchase orders, invoices, and payments to vendors.
  • Maintain accurate records of parts purchases, receipts, invoices, and warranty information, organizing documents for easy retrieval and reference.
Vendor Management and Relationship Building:
  • Foster positive relationships with parts suppliers, vendors, and manufacturers, serving as the main point of contact for inquiries, orders, and issue resolution.
  • Communicate regularly with vendors to track order status, expedite deliveries, and address any delays or discrepancies in shipments.
  • Evaluate supplier performance based on factors such as delivery times, product quality, and customer service, providing feedback and making recommendations for improvements.
Material Handler
  • Receive incoming shipments of parts, supplies, and materials from vendors and suppliers, verifying quantities and inspecting items for damage or discrepancies.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree or certification in supply chain management, procurement, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in parts purchasing, procurement, or inventory management, preferably in the heavy-duty trucking or automotive industry.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with suppliers, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in computerized inventory management systems, purchasing software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of heavy-duty truck systems, components, and parts cataloging, with the ability to identify and source parts for specific vehicle applications.
