About the role

The Parts Quality Engineer (PQE) is responsible for ensuring that all components and parts used in production meet internal quality standards and customer requirements. This role involves collaborating closely with suppliers, design engineers, and production teams to identify, prevent, and resolve quality issues throughout the product lifecycle.


What you'll do

Supplier Quality Management:
  • Evaluate and approve new suppliers through audits and assessments.
  • Monitor supplier performance using KPIs (e.g., PPM, on-time delivery, NCRs).
  • Lead supplier corrective action processes (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone).
Incoming Quality Control:
  • Develop and implement inspection plans for incoming parts.
  • Analyze non-conforming materials and initiate containment actions.
  • Maintain records of inspection results and quality documentation.
Problem Solving & Root Cause Analysis:
  • Lead investigations into part failures or deviations.
  • Use tools like FMEA, SPC, MSA, and DOE to identify root causes.
  • Implement and verify effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions.
Product Development Support:
  • Participate in APQP and PPAP processes for new product launches.
  • Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to ensure DFM/DFA.
  • Validate part quality during prototype and pre-production phases.
Continuous Improvement:
  • Drive quality improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma methods.
  • Support cost reduction projects without compromising quality.
  • Train internal teams and suppliers on quality standards and tools.


Required Skills and Abilities

Technical Skills:
  • Proficient in quality tools: PPAP, APQP, FMEA, SPC, MSA, 8D.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or AS9100 standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
Soft Skills:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and cross-functionally.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in quality engineering, preferably in a manufacturing or automotive environment.
  • Experience with supplier quality and part validation processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt.
  • Experience with ERP systems and quality management software.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis tools (e.g., Minitab, JMP).
