The Pastry Cook is responsible for preparing and producing a variety of pastries, desserts, and baked goods according to established recipes and quality standards. The role requires strong pastry skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while maintaining hygiene and food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and bake pastries, desserts, cakes, breads, and other baked items
- Follow standardized recipes, portion control, and presentation guidelines
- Ensure consistent quality, taste, and timely production
- Prepare mise en place for daily pastry operations
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pastry section
- Comply with food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards (HACCP)
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages to the Pastry Chef or Supervisor
- Minimize food waste and control costs
- Support special dietary requirements when required
Requirements & Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Pastry Cook or similar role
- Basic culinary or pastry certification preferred
- Knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, and pastry equipment
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Good time management and organizational skills
- Team player with a positive attitude
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays
