Patent Engineer (Remote)

DeLizio, Peacock, Lewin & Guerra, LLP is a premier intellectual property law firm with a modern, distributed model. We are actively seeking an experienced Patent Engineer to join our team of remote professionals. We are specifically looking for a candidate with recent, in-depth experience navigating and applying 3GPP technical specifications to patent drafting and prosecution.

This position is open to candidates residing anywhere in the United States. Our firm leverages advanced online tools for seamless collaboration and workflow management, enabling our professionals to deliver top-tier service to a diverse client base.

Role Description

This role encompasses all aspects of patent preparation and prosecution with a heavy emphasis on telecommunications standards. Your responsibilities will include drafting patent applications, claim charts, and office action responses that accurately reflect recent 3GPP technical specifications. You may also be tasked with conducting Examiner interviews and consulting with clients regarding standard-essential patents. You will be responsible for managing your own docket and are expected to work independently to develop strategy and prepare complete, high-quality work product.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background and significant patent prosecution experience.

• A degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related field is preferred.
• Deep technical knowledge and patent experience in areas such as Standard-Essential Patents (SEP), 3GPP telecommunications standards (e.g., 4G/LTE, 5G NR, 6G), consumer electronics, wireless power systems, and satellite communications.
• Candidates must reside in the United States.
• Proven ability to work autonomously and productively in a remote setting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective client and inventor consultation.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive production-based compensation model. Typically, our employees are compensated under a commission-based model that rewards the completion of billable tasks. For some roles, we may offer a salary-based model with production targets. This is strictly a W-2 employee position, not a 1099 independent contractor role.
