Patent Engineer/Scientist

Reports To: Agent Group Leader

Summary Description: The Patent Engineer assists patent attorneys with all aspects of patent prosecution, including patentability searches, preparation and prosecution of patent applications, clearance searches, and invalidity searches. This role has a strong emphasis on managing PCT national phase entries under 35 U.S.C. § 371, particularly for matters originating from Japan, and involves working closely with clients who require Japanese language fluency.

  • Conducts patentability searches and analyses, and assists in the identification of patentable inventions
  • Prepares Information Disclosure Statements for submission to the US Patent and Trademark Office
  • Assists with invalidity and clearance searches
  • Drafts patent applications with the assistance of the patent team
  • Assists with developing response strategies to office actions
  • Solves client challenges and respond to client needs
  • Works hand-in-hand with inventors on newly created products
