Under supervision, the Lab Technician / Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting biological specimens (especially blood), preparing them for analysis, maintaining specimen integrity, performing routine laboratory tasks, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality protocols.
ey Responsibilities & DutiesSpecimen Collection & Handling
- Perform venipuncture, capillary (finger-stick), or heel-stick techniques to collect blood specimens from patients of all age groups.
- Ensure correct patient identification before sample collection.
- Explain the procedure to patients to reduce anxiety, and provide instructions where needed.
- Label specimens accurately (patient name, ID, date, time, specimen type).
- Maintain specimen integrity: proper tube selection, additives, storage conditions, and transport to laboratory.
- Process samples as required (centrifugation, aliquoting, etc.).
Laboratory Support & Routine Tasks
- Receive, log, and catalog specimens in the laboratory information system (LIMS) or manual logs.
- Assist in performing routine laboratory tests or screening assays, as per training / delegation.
- Prepare reagents, consumables, and supplies for tests.
- Calibrate, maintain, clean, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Keep the laboratory area clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards (biosafety, chemical, waste disposal).
- Monitor inventory of lab supplies; raise requisitions for consumables and reagents.
- Maintain records, quality control logs, and documentation in line with regulatory requirements.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs), internal quality control, and external quality assurance protocols.
- Follow biosafety, universal precautions, infectious control, and hazard waste disposal procedures.
- Report any deviations, incidents, or non-conformities to supervisors.
- Participate in audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and laboratory data.
Communication & Coordination
- Liaise with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff regarding sample collection, test requirements, or clarifications.
- Assist in training junior staff or interns, as required.
- Provide support during special sample collection events (e.g. timed samples, special tests).
- Assist with logistics of sample transport, dispatch to reference labs, etc.

Pay: ₹14,000.00 - ₹18,000.00 per month
