Patient Access Specialist

Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced, highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Access Specialist. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing complex front-end insurance processes with a high degree of accuracy. Direct accountability includes working with both internal and external stakeholders to obtain and verify patient insurance coverage and benefits.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Using various resources (payer portal, automated verification system, etc.), verify patient insurance details, eligibility for TH services, and key that information into the EMR
  • Prepare and/or analyze revenue cycle reports to identify insurance related trends and recommend ways to improve areas of deficiency
  • In partnership with the billing company ensure insurance information is accurate to reduce denials related to insurance issues
  • Work with the Account Management team to establish relationships with our clients to assist with obtaining missing insurance information
  • Create monthly reports using excel to share patient cost-share details by client with the Account Management team
  • Explain insurance benefits, co-pays, and deductibles to patients/family members (high call volume)
Qualifications:
Required:
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 2-4 years of experience in patient registration
  • Customer service oriented with the ability to handle multiple calls in a day
  • Ability to relate well to all kinds of people, up, down, and sideways, inside and outside the organization
  • Strong computer skills including intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneDrive
  • Proactive mindset
  • Strong attention to detail, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA)
The anticipated hourly rate for this role is $21-23/hr. This remote position follows a location-based compensation structure. The posted salary range represents the potential pay range across various U.S. geographic markets. Actual compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s primary work location, experience, qualifications, and internal equity considerations, in accordance with applicable pay transparency laws.
