Patient Billing Representative

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Patient Billing Representative to join our Hospice Healthcare Team. Duties

• Review and process medical bills using appropriate coding systems such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications to ensure precise billing.
• Responsible for receiving, verifying, coding, and entering all invoices into Quick Books on a weekly basis.
• Knowledgeable in the patient billing and claims submission process to act as back-up to the Billing Specialist.
• Enter data into Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems with meticulous attention to detail.
• Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection strategies while maintaining professionalism and compliance.
• Communicate clearly with patients regarding their bills, payment options, and insurance questions to foster transparency and trust.
• Receives insurance verification request from intake and confirms patient insurance/payer coverage and benefit period requirements.
• Collaborate with medical office staff to resolve billing discrepancies promptly and efficiently.
• Experienced with Bloomerang billing system.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in medical billing or related roles within a healthcare setting.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and coding practices including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, ICD coding, and DRG systems.
• Excellent understanding of medical billing processes, insurance procedures, and collection techniques.
• Ability to interpret complex medical records and accurately assign appropriate codes for billing purposes.
• Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
• Effective communication skills to interact professionally with patients, insurance providers, and healthcare staff. Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36 – 40 per week
