Resident Assistance Job Description
Reports to: Wellness Director
Job Summary: To provide the utmost quality care to The Place at Shadow Oaks Residents with prompt deliverance of care. Must be multi-task oriented in order to cross train in several job areas, including housekeeping, dietary, activities, assistance with ADL”s and other areas as delegated by Department Heads
Qualifications: Must be eighteen years of age with a high school education and sound reading/writing abilities. Strong communication skills are required and experience working with the geriatric population is helpful. Lifting will be required. Therefore, all employees should be able to pick up 50 + lbs. Medication Technicians must complete a training period and pass a medication test.
Work Hours: Full time employees shall work 40 hours a week. Each employee will be working a rotational weekend schedule. Overtime may be asked of staff at times of need. Employees may also be asked to work other shifts than their usual shift.
Duties:
1. Assist residents when called upon in a timely manner. (Report any complaints to the Wellness Director for prompt action.) This includes any request made in any of the following areas:
a. Toileting
b. Showering/ADL Needs
c. Meals
d. Ambulation
e. Grooming
2. Document weights monthly or as needed if required daily/weekly.
3. Assist during meal times.
4. Assist during shower and toileting times as needed.
5. Documenting residents LOA’s, doctors’ appointments and any other necessary information for tracking residents care. This documentation to include change in condition, skin conditions and other medical needs or social issues noticed during a shift.
6. Escorting and encouraging residents to attend activities theses to include church activities, leisure time, beauty and hair needs, family visitation.
7. Laundering of linens and clothing.
8. Assist fellow staff with maintaining a clean and odor free environment by performing housekeeping duties facility wide as follows:
a. Restocking of supplies in all job areas.
b. Sweeping and wiping down nurses stations
c. General maintaining of cleanliness through-out the facility as directed by Wellness Director and Administrator
9. Assist with any other tasks/duties as requested by a Department Head as follows:
a. Answer telephones in a professional manner.
b. Answering the call bell system in a promptly time manner.
c. Forward all residential complaints to the administrator or Wellness Director in a timely manner.
