Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Patient Care Coordinator to join our healthcare team on a full-time basis. This temporary position offers the potential for permanent hire for candidates who demonstrate exceptional performance and commitment. The ideal candidate will possess strong administrative skills, a compassionate approach to patient service, and familiarity with medical office operations. As a Patient Care Coordinator, you will serve as the primary point of contact for patients, ensuring smooth clinic flow, accurate documentation, and effective communication between patients and healthcare providers.
Responsibilities
- Manage patient intake processes, including appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and data entry within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting patients, answering multi-line phone systems, and addressing inquiries with professionalism and courtesy.
- Assist with medical billing and collection procedures, ensuring accurate coding using CPT, ICD-9, and ICD-10 codes while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and data security.
- Review medical documentation for completeness and accuracy; support care plan coordination and documentation review to facilitate effective treatment planning.
- Maintain organized medical records, files, and office supplies while supporting front desk operations and clerical tasks such as filing, data entry, and appointment reminders.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure seamless clinic operations, including medical scheduling and intake procedures.
- Support administrative functions related to insurance verification, billing processes, and health information management using software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix when applicable.
Requirements
- Prior experience in a medical or dental office environment with knowledge of clinic workflows and medical administrative support.
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), Medicare guidelines, and HIPAA compliance standards.
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing accuracy (10-key typing preferred).
- Exceptional customer service skills with professional phone etiquette and effective communication abilities in a bilingual setting preferred.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced clinic environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Previous experience with dental terminology or dental office management is advantageous but not required.
