Patient Care Coordinator/Medical Receptionist

Silver Lake Eye Care Center is a doctor-owned, technology-driven private practice specializing in advanced medical eye care, dry eye treatment, custom-fit lenses, and premium vision services. We're looking for a Patient Care Coordinator who takes ownership of the front office experience, communicates with confidence, and holds themselves to a high standard. This is a key role — you are the first impression and the ongoing point of contact for our patients.

Duties

• Greet patients and set a warm, professional tone from the moment they walk in
• Answer phones, schedule appointments, and manage daily patient flow
• Verify insurance eligibility (VSP, EyeMed, Medical plans) and clearly communicate benefits and costs to patients
• Collect payment accurately at time of service
• Complete check-in and check-out efficiently, ensuring records, invoices, and documentation are accurate
• Assist with prior authorizations, billing, and accounts receivables
• Coordinate with our clinical and optical teams to keep the schedule and patient experience seamless
• Handle patient questions and concerns with patience and professionalism
• Support glasses and contact lens sales, and conversion to specialty services

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience in a medical, dental, or optometry front office — this is a fast-paced environment and prior experience matters
• Solid understanding of medical and/or vision insurance verification and billing (VSP and EyeMed experience is a strong plus)
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational habits
• Comfortable navigating practice management software and learning new systems quickly
• A genuine interest in patient education and optical sales — you like helping people find the right solution
• A team-first attitude: you show up prepared, communicate well, and do what you say you'll do
